Cyber insurance and independent risk surveys were the key topics addressed by RC Insurance Broker experts at ICG’s 20th Annual International Conference in St. Petersburg.

On 21–22 May 2026, St. Petersburg hosted the 20th Annual International Conference “Corporate Insurance 2026”, organized by ICG. RC Insurance Broker traditionally served as the General Partner of the conference. The event brought together leading industry experts to discuss current challenges, exchange practical experience and identify effective solutions in corporate insurance and risk management.

Key topics included insurance protection for critical assets, insurance program design, claims handling practices, insurance for major projects involving debt and other forms of external financing, as well as innovative insurance solutions.

“A risk survey is not a formality — it is an ongoing process of risk control,” said Anton Skvortsov, Managing Director at RC Insurance Broker. During the panel discussion “Major Project Delivery and Support: Coordination and Effective Collaboration Among Advisers”, representatives of Alfa-Bank, VTB Bank, Better Chance, Remind and Engineering Company Element discussed how major investment projects in the chemical industry are delivered today: how project finance is structured, how risks are allocated among the parties and how insurance coverage is arranged.

The RC Insurance Broker expert highlighted independent risk surveys as an important risk management tool. Particular attention was given to an emerging trend: the market is moving away from occasional survey inspections towards continuous risk monitoring, including the regular presence of a surveyor on the project. Independent assessment is a practical tool that makes major projects more transparent for banks, investors and insurers, as well as for the project operator itself.

The conference also featured a unique discussion format — Cyber Battle — initiated and moderated by Ivan Eremeev, Managing Director at RC Insurance Broker. The new format brought together representatives of the insurance community and business leaders for an open discussion on the role of cyber insurance in modern risk management.

Ivan acted as both moderator and “referee”, giving each side an opportunity to present arguments for and against insurance protection against digital threats. Rather than simply describing the product, this format brought the real concerns of clients to the forefront — from uncertainty about which risks are covered to the complexities of policy pricing. Sergei Polunin, Head of the Infrastructure IT Solutions Security Group at Gazinformservice, joined the discussion as an independent information security expert.

“Cyber risks are a new reality, and ignoring them is more expensive than managing them,” said Ivan Eremeev. “At the same time, we understand the concerns and doubts businesses may have, particularly when dealing with more specific and less tangible risks. Our role as a broker is not simply to sell a policy, but to build a bridge between the technical language of insurers and the practical needs of businesses, making insurance protection clear and transparent.”

The conference in St. Petersburg once again demonstrated that corporate insurance is moving towards more tailored solutions, greater digitalization and a more flexible response to emerging threats. The dialogue between brokers, insurers and corporate clients showed that combined expertise is key to the successful handling of complex claims.
