On 14 April 2026, Moscow hosted Cyber Lunch, a closed-door expert event organized with the participation of Cyberdom and RC Insurance Broker. The key topic was an in-depth review of the cyberattack on VSK Insurance House in late 2025. For the first time, in a closed-door setting, the insurer’s senior management presented a multidisciplinary perspective on the crisis, examining it from the viewpoints of the business, IT and information security teams, and top management.

During the session, the speakers explained how operational processes were reorganized and sales continuity was maintained during the first 72 hours, which areas of the business were brought to a halt, and what was preserved through backups. They also discussed the technical timeline of the attack, the attackers’ initial access vector, and cooperation with government authorities and technology vendors during the investigation. From the top management perspective, particular attention was given to strategic decision-making under conditions of complete uncertainty, reputation management, and communication with the regulator and clients while the company’s systems were effectively paralyzed.

Particular emphasis was placed on the lessons learned from the incident. VSK representatives acknowledged that the attack had become a major “stress test”, revealing hidden vulnerabilities not only in the company’s technology infrastructure but also in coordination between business functions.

Ivan Eremeev, commenting on the outcome of the meeting, emphasized the importance of open dialogue and of understanding the complexity of such incidents from the inside:

“The cyberattack on VSK is a precedent that is changing the rules of the game, particularly in the insurance market. We saw how a major market player went through an extremely challenging recovery cycle. Our role as a broker is to bring this experience to our clients, help them assess these risks properly and develop a systematic approach to managing them, including through the use of insurance solutions”.

Participants, including executives from major industrial groups and financial institutions, noted that an inside account of a real-life incident given from the top management, provided more practical insight than dozens of theoretical webinars.

The event concluded with a networking session, during which participants discussed current insurance practices and potential applications across different sectors of the economy.
